18 -22 JUNE 2019
From 18-22nd of June 2019 Mother Jungle organised cultural communication and digital storytelling sessions within the introduction workshop for the FORCLIME Internship Program 2019. This took place at the beautiful venue of Green School Bali
The Indonesian-German Forests and Climate Change Programme (FORCLIME) supports the Indonesian Government and relevant public and private actors in developing and implementing the framework, methods and services for sustainable forest management, nature conservation and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions from deforestation and forest degradation. One element that plays an important role in dealing with climate change is youth, because it is the youth who will inherit this world and will be responsible for the preservation of the world in the future.
FORCLIME started project activities in Papua with the aim to transfer lessons learned from FORCLIME’s long-standing engagement in Kalimantan to this area. Within this new scope FORCLIME partnered with the Forestry Faculty of the University of Papua in Manokwari and the Cenderawasih University in Jayapura on an internship programme to support the capacity development of students and fresh graduates for the future benefit of the Forestry Service of Papua Province and West Papua Province. For this purpose, Mother Jungle designed introduction sessions focussing on digital storytelling and cultural communication.
Mother Jungle designed the sessions in collaboration with Professional Photographer David Metcalf and film Director and writer Charlie Hill-Smith. The participants were introduced to the concepts of cultural communication to prepare them for working within an intercultural team by teaching them new forms of digital storytelling through video recording and photography.
